Your Baby at 18 Months!
At 18 months, your toddler is learning new things all the time and it can be fascinating to see the world through their eyes!
Here are some of the things you might notice your little one doing by now:
Communication & Language Development
Tries to say more words besides “mama” and “dada”.
Says 10-20 words.
Understand one-step commands like “Pick up your blankey.”
Able to point to body parts like “Where is your ear?”
Social & Emotional Development
May be afraid of strangers.
Cling to parents/caregivers in new situations.
Show affection to people they know well.
Plays alongside other kids.
Laughs in response to others.
Puts hands out for you to wash them.
Can have temper tantrums!
Thinking & Learning
Copies you, like cooking, sweeping a broom or talking on the phone
Recognizes everyday objects, like a brush or a spoon and knows how to use them.
Point to show others something interesting.
Movement & Physical Development
Walking without holding onto anyone or anything.
Feeding themselves with their fingers.
Tries to use a spoon.
Drinking from a cup without a lid, but may spill sometimes.
Climbing on and off a chair/couch without help!
Remember: Every child develops at their own pace!
